TTC has successfully conducted an operational assessment for their UK subsidiary Air Navigation Solutions Ltd. (ANS). All applicants were assessed on their ability to work as air traffic controllers on the ATC-tower of Gatwick. Therefore every candidate ran through exercises at the DFS simulator facilities in Langen, Germany. The standardized exercises contained high traffic levels on just one runway to see how applicants would cope with the tasks on the “busiest single-use runway” in Gatwick.
After the negotiations with current Gatwick staff are over, ANS plans an intake of staff, depending on how many employees from the current ATC provider will transfer to ANS.
If necessary TTC will conduct further assessments for ANS here in Langen (Germany), although the successful applicants are going to work in the UK.
TTC still uses the simulator capacities of their parent company DFS, but mainly their own staff, to conduct multiple assessments, refreshers and training courses over the year.
